Medical Council president resigns

The president of the Medical Council, Prof J. Stephen Doyle, is to resign tomorrow

The president of the Medical Council, Prof J. Stephen Doyle, is to resign tomorrow. Prof Doyle said yesterday his decision not to complete his full term was taken because of personal pressures which had become acute over the past four months.

Prof Doyle said he wanted to emphasise his resignation was not related to any difficulties within the council. All members of the council had been entirely supportive.

Prof Doyle, who became president in 1994, will remain a council member.
