Mazda said today it would recall a combined 89,822 Mazda3/Axela compact cars in Japan and China to fix a faulty oil hose.

The Japanese carmaker said it had sold another 191,503 units of the model in other markets that could be subject to a recall or other repair measures.

The Mazda3 sold in the United States is not covered in the recall because it uses a different engine, a spokesman said.
