A marathon runner, Mr John Reilly, Russell Avenue, ,Drumcondra, Dublin, has been awarded £12,000 in the Circuit Civil court for an injury to his left foot.
Judge Elizabeth Duane said she accepted that ongoing symptoms were due to his having been knocked off a motorbike.
Judge Duane heard that Mr Reilly was now unable to participate in any sports and had previously been a 10 kilometre and marathon runner and had played football.
