Man suffers broken leg in Mayo burglary

A man suffered a suspected broken leg after thieves entered his Co Mayo home last night and stole just €60.

A man suffered a suspected broken leg after thieves entered his Co Mayo home last night and stole just €60.

The victim, who is in his 60s, is understood to have confronted one of two men at his house in Charlestown some time around 10pm last night.

Gardai later arrested a man in his 20s a few kilometres from the scene. He is being held at Swinford Garda Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The victim is being treated in Mayo General Hospital.
