A Cork man failed to respond to attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him after they were called by gardaí when he suffered a seizure, a coroner’s court has heard. Detectives tried to restrain him during a search for drugs in his rented home in Cork. David O’Mahony (22), originally from Mayfield, had consumed cocaine and alcohol before drugs squad detectives came to search the rented house in Gurranebraher.

Paramedic John Casey told the jury of five men and two women at Mr O’Mahony’s inquest that when he arrived at the scene, he found Mr O’Mahony lying face up on a couch in the lounge with a man attempting to revive him by pushing on his chest.

The inquest continues.
