Gardaí in Dublin have appealed for witnesses to a serious assault on a young woman on Sunday.

Gardaí in Dublin have appealed for witnesses to a serious assault on a young woman on Sunday.

A 19-year-old woman sustained serious injuries in the assault, which occurred at about 3.30am on Monastery Walk in Clondalkin.

The assailant is described as being male, in his 20s, between 5ft 6ins and 6ft tall and of athletic build with short hair.

It is believed the assailant received injuries to his face during the assault.

Gardaí are anxious to speak to a man seen in the area around the time who may be able to assist with the investigation.

He is described as being in his mid 20s and is believed to have been wearing a blue Italian sports top.
