A builder who held a gun as he ordered two liquidation staff off his premises was shown leniency yesterday by a judge.

Dungloe District Court heard that Michael Herron was full of remorse. He had watched for four days from his home as liquidators bore away materials from his troubled building company next door.

Judge Conal Gibbons adjourned the case until July to give Herron an opportunity to pay €1,000 compensation to each of the liquidator’s employees.

The judge told Herron, who is working in Nigeria: “I wish you well in your work. I hope you can build yourself back up again.”
