A man is recovering in hospital after being shot outside his home in a suspected gangland attack

A man is recovering in hospital after being shot outside his home in a suspected gangland attack. The victim, a 25-year-old Dubliner, knew his life was in danger and was wearing a bulletproof vest.

He was shot in the leg and arm and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Initial reports from the scene last night suggested the victim’s bulletproof vest had prevented him from sustaining more serious injuries or being killed.

The attack occurred at Palmerstown Park, Ronanstown, at about 6.30pm. The injured man was taken to Connolly Hospital where he underwent surgery.

He was recovering at the hospital last night and gardaí investigating the shooting are hoping to interview him as early as today about the attack.

The victim had been attacked before and knew his life was currently in danger. Gardaí are trying to determine if last night’s attack was linked to the past incidents.

The scene of the shooting was sealed off and was this morning due to undergo an examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
