Man shot in both legs in Co Donegal

A man was taken to hospital in Co Donegal last night after he was shot in the legs by an armed and masked gang in his home.

A man was taken to hospital in Co Donegal last night after he was shot in the legs by an armed and masked gang in his home.

The incident happened at 9pm in the village of St Johnston, near the Border with Co Derry.

Three men wearing balaclavas, two of whom were armed with hand guns and one with a pick axe handle, went into the house and shot the man before escaping in his car.

The victim was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening. Two men and a woman, who were in the house at the time of the attack, were not injured.

The white Vauxhaul Cavalier getaway car was found burnt out in Lifford.

The scene at Saint Johnstown and Lifford have been preserved for technical examination.
