The trial of a Kilkenny man on 276 sex charges has been adjourned to October 7th by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been due to go on trial on June 4th but the new date was set after an application by Mr Brendan Grogan SC, defending, for separate trials on some of the charges was rejected by Judge Cyril Kelly.

Mr Grogan said a number of witnesses had yet to be interviewed on behalf of the defence band he could not proceed with the trial, which he said would take four weeks, at this stage.
