A murder investigation may be launched today after Dublin gardai receive the results of a post-mortem into what they termed a "suspicious" death of a man in Killiney, Co Dublin, yesterday.

The man's body, which had head injuries, was found by a relative in shrubbery on Mullin's Hill overlooking Killiney golf course.

Gardai are expected to release the name of the man, who was in his 40s and from the area, today. Insp Martin Cummins from Dun Laoghaire Garda station, who is leading the investigation, said the circumstances in which the body was found "lead us to find it suspicious".

He said the man, who had been missing for a brief period, was discovered at around 6 p.m. yesterday by a relative who had gone looking for him.
