A 35-year-old man had to be rescued during a mountain climb in Co Galway after suffering a leg injury at the weekend

A 35-year-old man had to be rescued during a mountain climb in Co Galway after suffering a leg injury at the weekend. The man suffered the injury on Binn Fraoigh in north Connemara on Saturday.

An effort to rescue him by helicopter had to be abandoned because of poor weather, and the man was brought down in a stretcher by members of Galway Mountain Rescue.

He was transferred to University Hospital Galway for treatment.
