A man appeared in court this afternoon charged in connection with the seizure of herbal cannabis worth €240,000 in Limerick.

Trevor Cobbett (36), of Sandymount Close, Lisburn, Co Antrim is accused of having cannabis for the purpose of sale or supply.

He was arrested yesterday morning after the drugs were discovered in a car which was stopped by gardaí near Castleconnell.

Limerick District Court heard this afternoon Mr Cobbett made no reply when formally charged last night.

There was no application for bail.

Judge Tom O'Donnell remanded him in custody until Wednesday, May 12th
