A man (31) has been remanded in custody after appearing before Kilmainham District Court today over a stabbing in which a man died in Ballyfermot, Dublin, over the weekend.

Martin Toland of Walkinstown Park, Dublin 12, is facing two charges of assault causing harm in connection with the attack on Saturday morning.

Mr Toland was remanded in custody with consent to bail. He is due to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on Friday.

Alan Nolan (28), from Cedarbrook Walk, Cherry Orchard, died after being stabbed in an apartment.

A second man, also suffering from stab wounds, is in a stable condition in hospital.
