Man remanded on drug charges

A man was charged at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday with possessing cannabis with a street value of £50,000.

A man was charged at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday with possessing cannabis with a street value of £50,000.

Mr John Thompson (35), from Manor Street, Belfast, was arrested on Monday after police stopped a taxi at Shore Road, Belfast, and found 5kg of cannabis resin.

He was remanded in custody until February 18th on charges of unlawfully possessing cannabis and having it with intent to supply others.
