A sports co-ordinator who defrauded South Dublin County Council and unemployed people who took his course of more than €6,000 has been remanded on bail pending sentence in February.

A number of students from his courses, mostly unemployed people, reported that he had charged them fees for a course that had actually been paid for by Fás.

Michael Browne (37), Kiltipper Gate, Tallaght, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 22 charges between August 25th, 2009, and January 2010 at Tallaght Leisure Centre and South Dublin County Council.
