A man in his 70s has been released from custody and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions after a gun was seized at a house in Limerick city yesterday morning.

Gardaí were called to an incident at the house at Seán Heuston Place at around 7am and a gun and a quantity of ammunition were found at the scene.

The man was detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act before being released without charge last night.
