A foreign national who has been refused asylum here has been remanded in custody for sentence for raping a young woman after they danced at Lillies Bordello disco in Dublin.

Martin Archeampong (31), a Ghanaian, of Killarney Place, Dublin, was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict at the Central Criminal Court following a five-day trial. The jury took 31/2 hours to reach its verdict.

Mr Justice Barr directed the preparation of victim impact and probation reports and adjourned the case for mention on April 3rd next.

Archeampong, a father of a baby girl, who came to Ireland from Germany in 1997, was remanded in custody following a Garda objection to continued bail.
