A man was being questioned by police tonight about the alleged assault of a young girl in a school.

A man was being questioned by police tonight about the alleged assault of a young girl in a school.

The man left the grounds of the school in Ballycastle, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, by car after being challenged by staff about the alleged incident involving an 11-year-old girl.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the man was involved in a road accident a short time later and assaulted a woman in the other vehicle.

He was subsequently arrested by police, said the spokesman.
