Gardaí have arrested and questioned a man on suspicion of carrying out an alleged attempted abduction in Co Laois four years ago.
The man, in his 30s, was arrested in Dublin on Thursday and taken to Portlaoise Garda station. The alleged incident involved a woman in her 20s being approached as she walked along the Swan Road in Durrow in October 2007. It is understood she was accosted by the man, who fled in a van after becoming alarmed by an approaching vehicle.
Gardaí are preparing a file for the DPP.
