A man appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday on two charges of indecently assaulting a young girl in 1960

A man appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday on two charges of indecently assaulting a young girl in 1960. He is also accused of two counts of indecent assault against another girl in 1977. The court heard that when charged in a Garda station, the defendant replied: "My solicitor says, say nothing."

Judge Michael Patwell refused the defence application to remind the media of reporting restrictions in the case, saying it was up to the newspapers to, know the law.

He granted an application by defence solicitor Mr Garret Sheehan that witness statements be forwarded by the prosecution before the defendant makes an election in the case. The defendant was remanded on his own bail to appear again on April 22nd.
