A Connemara man who is charged with assaulting traditional Irish musician Noel Hill has been remanded on continuing bail to December when a date will be fixed for his trial.

Michael Folan (49), Teach Mór, Lettermullen, Co Galway, appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

He was charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Mr Hill, at Tí Pádraig Mairtín Beag in Leitir Mór, Connemara, on St Stephen’s Day last year.

Mr Folan, who is an unemployed construction worker, was remanded on bail to appear before the court again on December 8th when a date will be fixed for his trial.
