Man lying injured on road hit by second car

The 24-year-old man was on a night out when he was struck by a car at about 4.20am at Leonard’s Corner in Dublin’s south inner city yesterday.

As he lay injured on the road, he was struck by a second car.

His body was removed to the City Morgue where a postmortem is to be carried out today. Gardaí at Kevin Street are seeking witnesses to the incident.

A Connemara woman, Sinéad King (37), died on Saturday morning after being hit by a van on the Clifden to Westport Road in Leenane, Co Galway, at 3.30pm on Friday afternoon.

She was taken to Castlebar hospital and then to Galway University Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Gardaí in Clifden are appealed for witnesses to the incident.
