A man who lured his victim to a rubbish chute and then demanded money by pushing a broken bottle in his face has been jailed …

A man who lured his victim to a rubbish chute and then demanded money by pushing a broken bottle in his face has been jailed for 4 1/2 years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Garda Peter Woods told prosecuting counsel Mr Desmond Zaiden that the victim was lured on the pretext that his tools had been stolen from his van and left in the rubbish chute area of Smithfield Flats.

Anthony Clarke (24) of Smithfield Terrace, Dublin 7, admitted assault with the intention to rob on July 17th 1995. He had 21 previous convictions.
