A man was killed while working with horses yesterday in south Tipperary

A man was killed while working with horses yesterday in south Tipperary. The incident happened outside the village of Mullinahone at about 1pm when it is believed the man, named locally as Michael Keating and aged in his 50s, was shoeing a horse. Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have begun investigations.

It is understood the horse may have kicked out at Mr Keating, striking him in the head. A single man, Mr Keating lived at the family home in Ballycullen. Cllr Joe Brennan described the incident as a “freak accident”.
