A man who stalked a Leaving Cert student for 18 months and made lewd remarks to her in public has been jailed for six months. Gerard Cunningham (33), Rahoon, Galway, had pleaded guilty at Galway District Court last week to harassing the teenager between April 1st, 2009, and September 5th, 2010.
The young woman, whose father was with her in court, cried as she told Judge Mary Fahy how she still lived in fear of Cunningham.
Garda Insp Mick Coppinger said Cunningham had randomly picked on her for no reason and she did not know him at all.
