A man who spent a £20,000 compensation payment on drugs in one month has been jailed for five years for robbery and drugs offences. Anthony Burnett spent the £20,000 on heroin.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard Burnett had been awarded the money in a physical injury claim against Dublin Corporation. Burnett (20) of St Mary's Mansions, Dublin, pleaded guilty to possession of £300 of heroin with intent to supply, to stealing a car, and to two counts of robbery, all in January 1998.
