A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was assaulted in Dublin city centre last night.
A Garda spokesman said the attack happened at about 3.30am on Dame Street near George's Street.
Two men were arrested and are being questioned at Pearse Street Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The man who was assaulted was taken to St James's Hospital, where he is understood to be in a serious condition, the Garda spokesman added. His age is not known.
