A 27 year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Letterkenny in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí say the incident occurred at Kilmacrenan Road at around 3am when it is believed one man assaulted another outside a licensed premises.
The injured man was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The scene is being technically examined and Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact Letterkenny Garda Station or the Garda confidential line.
