Man in court over wife's death

A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his wife in Dublin on Monday.

A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of his wife in Dublin on Monday.

Brian Vickers (43) of Shelmalier Road, East Wall, Dublin 3, appeared at a special sitting of Bridewell District Court in Dublin shortly after 5pm.

The accused was remanded to appear in Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday morning.

An application for bail will be heard on Monday at the High Court.

Joan Vickers (43), a mother of four, was stabbed several times in the throat at her home in the early hours of Monday.

Gardaí were informed of the stabbing incident when Mr Vickers and a relative walked into Raheny Garda station at about 6am.

An ambulance was called to the victim’s home and she was taken to the Mater hospital where she was pronounced dead at about 6.45am.
