A man who had a bench warrant issued 14 years ago for a robbery charge has appeared before a court after being stopped by gardaí for suspected traffic offences.

Stephen Connors (32) was brought before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on foot of a bench warrant issued in 1998 for an offence of robbery.

Garda Seán Caffrey from Raheny Garda station said Mr Connors, Belcamp Lane, Dublin, had been charged with the motor offences in Artane on December 13th, 2012.

Judge Martin Nolan told Garda Caffrey: “You must feel like a Mountie, you always get your man.”

No objection was made to bail. Mr Connors is to sign on at Coolock Garda station three days a week.
