Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in his 60s from gunshot wounds in Co Wicklow yesterday.

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in his 60s from gunshot wounds in Co Wicklow yesterday.

The man died in a house at Cronelea, Shillelagh, Co Wicklow, at about 6.30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man in his 60s has been arrested by gardaí in relation to the incident.

He was detained by gardaí in Baltinglass last night under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

There was no other person in the house at the time and gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

It is understood that the deceased man’s mother had died in recent days.

The scene was sealed off last night and gardaí notified the State Pathologist’s office.

Gardaí in Baltinglass are investigating the incident.
