Man hurt in Cork assault

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in Cork city the early hours of this morning.

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being assaulted in Cork city the early hours of this morning.

The man incurred head wounds when an argument broke out in a house in Roman Street in the city shortly after 3.15am.

The man, who is in his late 40’s, was badly beaten in the incident.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where he underwent emergency surgery.

A garda spokesman described his condition as being “serious but stable.“

Anyone with information on the incident or who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area around the house in Roman Street is asked to contact gardai in Cork city.
