Gardaí in Waterford are investigating a burglary last night that has left a man in hospital.
According to gardaí, the incident took place at 9.40pm in the Mount Sion Avenue area of the city. The victim, aged in his early 80s, suffered injuries and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital.
It is believed his condition is serious.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination, and a Garda investigation is under way.
