A man (31) remains in custody tonight in connection with the death of a woman in Waterford city this morning.
A 30-year-old woman was discovered with serious head injuries in a house in Richardsons Meadows, Kilcohan, shortly after 2.30am.
She was taken by ambulance to Waterford Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, where he can be detained for up to 24 hours.
The scene was preserved for a technical examination and the State Pathologist's office was called in to carry out an examination.
