An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Co Galway in connection with an assault which left another man with severe head injuries.
The victim, who is aged 22, was walking on Milltown Road in Tuam in the early hours of this morning when a rock was thrown at him.
He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
The man arrested this morning is being held at Tuam Garda station.
