A man in his 30s was questioned by gardaí in Co Clare last night following the seizure of almost 6,000 ecstasy tablets and a small quantity of cocaine.

The man was arrested after gardaí raided a house at Rineanna View, Shannon town, at about 10.30am yesterday.

Gardaí went to the address on a search warrant and discovered a small quantity of ecstasy. A safe was later found that contained an estimated 5,500 additional tablets.

The man is being held at Shannon Garda station. He was not in the house at the time of the raid but arrived later in the day and was arrested.

A woman, believed to be the man's wife, was at the house but was not detained.
