Man held over failed ATM robbery

A man (23) has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a shop in Dublin earlier this morning.

A man (23) has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a shop in Dublin earlier this morning.

The incident occurred at about 3.30am when three men entered into a premises on East Wall Road, Dublin 1 with a sledgehammer, falsely imprisoned a man and attempted to take an ATM from the store.

The 23-year-old was arrested at the rear of the shop while the other two men fled the scene.

The arrested man is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Store Street Garda station.
