Man held over Dublin taxi robberies

A man was arrested today by gardai investigating the robberies of a number of taxi drivers in north Dublin.

A man was arrested today by gardai investigating the robberies of a number of taxi drivers in north Dublin.

The Blanchardstown Crime Task Force and local officers were involved in the arrest which took place at a checkpoint in Finglas.

A Garda spokesman said: “Just after midnight Garda personnel saw a taxi turning away from a checkpoint they had put in place on the Ratoath Road.

“They followed this taxi and stopped it in a cul de sac just off the Ratoath Road and arrested its 28-year-old male fare. A syringe was also recovered.”

The man is being held under Section IV of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
