A man who was extradited from the UK will appear in a Dublin court tomorrow morning in relation to the death of a man eight years ago.

The 36-year-old man was arrested at Dublin Airport this afternoon by gardaí investigating the death of Paul Ryan. The arrest was made under a European Arrest Warrant.

Paul Ryan’s body was found at the side of a road at Coolderry, Birr, Co Offaly, on April 12th, 2003.

The 27-year-old from Donaghmede in Dublin had been shot in the head and his body was dumped in a nearby field.

Mr Ryan’s death was one of those examined by a cold case team which is part of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and was established by the Garda in 2007.

The arrested man will appear in court two at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, Dublin at 10.30am.
