Man held over Dublin assault

A man (36) has been arrested in connection with an assault in which two men were stabbed.

A man (36) has been arrested in connection with an assault in which two men were stabbed.

The incident happened shortly after 5am at a house at Greenmount Lawns in Terenure, Dublin 6W.

Gardaí arrived at the scene at 5.20am and found a man in a collapsed state on the porch of a house with stab wounds to the stomach and chest. On entering the house they discovered a second man with lesser stab wounds.

Both men were taken to St James's hospital. One has since been released, while the other remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The man arrested is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Terenure Garda station. He can be detained for a maximum of 24 hours.
