A man has been arrested by gardaí investigating the death of a woman in Co Laois.
Her body was discovered in a flat at Mountrath last night at about 8pm.
The dead woman was in her 30s, a Garda spokesman said.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the body.
He is being detained at Portlaoise Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The flat was sealed off last night pending the arrival of deputy State pathologist Dr Michael Curtis today.
The Garda Technical Bureau is also scheduled to examine the property today.
