A teenager was tonight being questioned over the death of a newspaper worker outside a Belfast nightclub.

A teenager was tonight being questioned over the death of a newspaper worker outside a Belfast nightclub.

Aaron Montgomery, 23, died after an early morning altercation outside Skye Bar in the city centre. Detectives are quizzing a 19-year-old man.

No weapon is believed to have been used in the Howard Street attack.

Detectives appealed for anyone enjoying St Valentine's night in the club or who witnessed what happened to contact them.

Meanwhile, a youth was being treated in hospital after being stabbed in the throat during a serious assault in the centre of Derry in the early hours of the morning.

Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested for questioning over the incident shortly before 1.30am.

A spokesman said the victim was attacked in the Waterloo Place area of the city and was being treated in hospital where his condition was believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
