A man who was arrested today over the alleged rape of a young woman at the Oxegen music festival in Co Kildare has tonight been released without charge.

The woman in her early 20s said she was sexually assaulted last night at the event at Punchestown Racecourse.

It is understood the alleged incident happened in the staff camping quarters and both the man and the woman were working for sub-contractors at the festival.

A Garda spokesman earlier confirmed it was investigating the complaint and that a man was being questioned in custody in connection with the incident.

Tonight gardaí said the man had been released and a file was being prepared for the DPP.
