A man has been arrested following a garda operation in Co Louth this afternoon.
The man, who is in his 30s, was held after local gardaí with support from the Garda Emergency Response Unit stopped a van on the Western Bypass near Dundalk shortly before 1 pm today. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
The man has been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Dundalk Garda Station and can be held for up to 72 hours.
