Man held after Newry stabbings

A man in his 40s has been arrested following the stabbing of two men at a hotel in Newry, Co Down last night.

A man in his 40s has been arrested following the stabbing of two men at a hotel in Newry, Co Down last night.

One man in his 20s and another in his 30s were hospitalised following the stabbings which took place on Francis Street at 10pm.

The man in his 20s remains in hospital, but his injuries are not said to be life threatening. The man in his 30s was released from hospital following treatment for a hand wound.

Meanwhile, another man in his 40s was arrested following an assault in the Edenmore Road area of Mayobridge, Co Down last night.

A man was hospitalised after being beaten across the head with an iron bar at 11.10pm.
