Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man following the seizure of drugs worth €600,000 on the outskirts of the city yesterday.

Officers from the Cork City divisional drugs squad stopped a car in Glanmire yesterday afternoon as part of an ongoing operation and recovered 32kg of herbal cannabis worth and estimated €380,000.

They arrested a man in his 30s from the northside of the city and brought him to Cobh garda station for questioning. He can be held for up to seven days before being charged or released.

In a follow up operation, divisional drugs squad officers along with gardaí from Cobh searched a house in the Carrigtwohill area and found 35kg of cannabis resin with a street value of about €220,000.

Gardaí believe the haul was destined for the Cork market. The seizure is one of the biggest in the south this year.
