A man has been given a five-year suspended sentence after he was caught distributing performance enhancing steroids having bought them legally online. Edgars Vilkys (28), from Lithuania, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of mephedrone, trilfluromethylphenylpiperazne and testosterone propionate at his home for sale or supply in Connaught Street, Phibsborough, on May 19th, 2011. Judge Mary Ellen Ring said these drugs were very dangerous and it was “particularly disturbing” that young people had started to take them so as to enhance their abilities in competing in sports.
