A man in his 20s who was arrested in connection with a burglary in Co Mayo during which the homeowner suffered a suspected broken leg, has been released.

Two men broke into a house in Charlestown on Sunday night and stole just €60. The homeowner, who is in his early 60s, confronted the men and in the process suffered the injury.

The man released today was arrested close to the scene of the crime on Sunday evening.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Meanwhile, the victim of the attack is recovering in hospital.
