Man for court over Tyrone raid

A man will appear in court this morning charged in connection with an armed raid at a couple's home in Northern Ireland.

A man will appear in court this morning charged in connection with an armed raid at a couple's home in Northern Ireland.

The man (35) has been charged with a series of offences - including aggravated burglary, armed robbery and hijacking after the burglary at the bed and breakfast near Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone, last night.

A shotgun and ammunition were stolen during the raid.

Police searched a nearby derelict farm to track down the burglar, and a helicopter also helped in the search across Co Tyrone.

A man was arrested when he handed himself in to police at a north Belfast station last night. He is due to appear before Strabane Magistrates Court this morning.
